Jeremy Schmidt
Jeremy Schmidt is a writer and photographer of natural history and adventure travel, with a particular interest in the winding frontier between the modern world and what is left of the natural and indigenous. He is the author or co-author of more than 20 books and hundreds of articles for magazines- including Audubon, International Wildlife, National Geographic, National Geographic Traveler, Natura (Italy), Panorama (Netherlands), Outside, GEO and others. For 12 years, he was the adventure columnist for Universal Press Syndicate.
Assignments have taken him to all continents, including Antarctica with a book in progress on Weddell seals, the world's southernmost breeding mammals.
He is a founding faculty member of the Jackson Hole Writers Conference and a Fulbright Scholar in the Council for International Exchange of Scholars. He is also co-founder and president of Conservation Ink, an environmental publisher working primarily in central Asia and the western United States.
