Jonathan Aguas
Jonathan was born into one of handful families that reaches back five generations in the Galapagos in the town of Puerto Baquerizo Moreno on San Cristobal Island. He grew up swimming among unique freshwater springs owned by his family at the highlands of San Cristobal, exploring the vast wilderness of the highlands of Galapagos and diving among sharks and the incredible marine life of his home island. He first left the islands when he won a highly covered valedictorian scholarship to finish his studies in the US. This was the start of a life passion for science and languages.
He has a science background in integrative Biology and spent the last years experimenting and learning about sustainable and Technified procedures for coffee farming in Galapagos. Jonathan has participated in several oversea projects. He was the liaison for a Fulbright New Century Scholar project finance by the U.S state Department in the Galapagos. When he is not exploring on our expeditions, he splits time between Quito-Ecuador, Austin-Texas and his coffee farm at the highlands of the Galapagos where he farms specialty coffee. Jonathan has worked for Lindblad Expeditions and National Geographic for more than 15 years. He has worked as a naturalist and Certified Photo Instructor aboard our Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic fleet around several destinations.
