Karin Murray-Bergquist
Karin Murray-Bergquist is a historian and folklorist currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Folklore at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Her academic work focuses on tradition, narrative and the ways communities preserve history through storytelling.
In addition to research and writing, Karin’s fieldwork has included travel across Newfoundland to gather local accounts and engage in long-form conversations about regional folklore, oral history and unexplained phenomena.
Outside of academia, Karin works creatively at the intersection of history and narrative, including projects inspired by Antarctic animals and historic voyages, as well as original fiction and performance-based storytelling. Her work reflects a continued interest in how culture, imagination and environment shape the human experience of remote places.
