Overnight, the bridge team of Sea Cloud II navigated from our embarkation in the beautiful city of Venice, out of the Venetian lagoon, and across the Adriatic Sea towards our first destination in Croatia. We woke up to a stunning sunrise over the bow of our magnificent tall ship and after breakfast, Captain Kathryn Whittaker put her team to work, and our guests had a chance to watch the sails unfurl.
We then had our first lecture from Photographer Lisa Hornak on phone photography and composition. After lunch, we were treated to a chance to jump into the sea from the ship and swim in the pristine waters outside the picturesque seaside town of Rovinj, Croatia.
Early afternoon, we boarded the tenders for our first adventures ashore: a walk through the charming winding alleys of historic Rovinj and a wine tasting at San Tommaso Winery. After dinner, guests had a chance to enjoy the vibrant nightlife of the seaside town or go on a photo walk of the city. What a fantastic and unforgettable first day!
