Anchors away in the pre-dawn light as National Geographic Quest settled into today’s destination, Isla Coiba. Morning hikes permitted us to explore the island and get a better understanding as to how this former penal colony played a major role in preserving the integrity of forests and ecology of this region. There is nothing better than getting in the water via kayak, paddleboard, or swimming after hiking in the balmy rainforest interior. Isla Coco was our afternoon destination for snorkeling. Beautiful corals were the backdrop for the cornucopia of tropical fish that inhabit this area.

It was a full and satisfying day of exploration in Coiba National Park.
