What an exciting first full day in the Galapagos Islands! We have woken up at the oldest island of the archipelago, Española Island. We started the day in the water, snorkeling at Gardner Bay and then visited a breathtaking white sand beach, home to a colony of sea lions.

In the afternoon, we moved to Punta Suarez, a spot where waved albatross congregate and nest. As we were walking on the trail spotting marine iguanas and seabirds nearby, we got a gift from nature--a humpback whale with its calf! They were jumping and displaying right off the coast of Española, right in front of us. The rest of afternoon was filled with dancing and flying majestic waved albatross, and a stunning sunset!
