After a beautiful evening and colorful sunset, we expected to wake up this morning to sunshine over Haines. Instead, we woke to rain, but it did not deter us from pursuing our morning activities. Rain gear and boots were donned and we picked our own Alaska adventure! Many of our guests visited the Tlingit Village of Klukwan where they were treated to a cultural dance and a float trip down the Chilkat River. Others rode bicycles the entire length of the short, but beautiful, Chilkoot River where some guests were fly fishing for Dolly Varden trout and salmon. A few hardy souls hiked up Mount Riley, while others relaxed onboard the ship.
The rain cleared by the afternoon just in time for our flight seeing activities. We also went halibut fishing and explored the town. After an activity-filled day, we feasted on Dungeness crab while we set a course south for tomorrow’s adventures.
