Kia Ora and Greetings from Aotearoa, the “Land of the Long White Cloud”.
Today was spent exploring and hiking the island of Great Barrier in the Glenfern Sanctuary. Guests had an amazing afternoon wandering around Glenfern and were lucky to be the only people visiting this afternoon. We walked up the bush track to the kauri swing bridge, then across to Sunset Rock for an outstanding view of Port Fitzroy, then down the 4-wheel drive track.
The native wildlife was abundant, including the kaka (New Zealand brown parrot) singing in the trees, along with sacred kingfishers and the Tui. There was also plenty of life within the water to observe, including stingrays swimming by.
It was a great way to start our adventure.
