While guests were enjoying great birding and the unique muskeg ecosystem of Southeast Alaska, the Undersea Team explored a new dive site at Kennel Creek. Working with the bridge team, we selected a small outcrop of rocks to dive in a place that may never have been seen by human eyes. We encountered a steep vertical wall with many encrusting invertebrates, including dozens of large whelks laying their numerous egg cases. It was an exciting dive and resulted in great footage to share with the guests.

In the afternoon we headed south and finally crossed paths with killer whales! They paced alongside the ship while everyone onboard marveled at their power and grace. For some this was their first encounter with the most charismatic of all Alaskan wildlife.
