The early morning found National Geographic Quest cruising south in the Chatham Strait in the Kelp Bay region. A picturesque land/seascape of purse seiners working the near shore waters and Kasnyku Falls in the backdrop made up our view from the dining room windows at breakfast. Quintessential Southeast Alaska.
Our afternoon was spent amongst the old growth forest and the salmon of the Lake Eva region. The sockeyes are returning…hurray! The afternoon’s high tide found red salmon schooling in the first big pool at Eva Creek.
Salmon in the trees…trees in the salmon. The concept hits home.
