Our final day on National Geographic Quest started with a spectacular showing of orca whales en route to Sergius Narrows. It was estimated that approximately 20 orcas were in procession in the pod. Tail slaps and other behaviors were seen at the surface. Even a humpback whale showed up in the strait — this was the icing on the cake for a fantastic week.
After some ship logistics and a final ceremony for our newly confirmed Global Explorers, we headed out to Magoun Island, near Sitka, for a final hike and kayak excursion.
