Zipping along in our Zodiac through the narrow pass of Misty Fjords below the watchful eyes of the “stone owl,” we passed numerous waterfalls that seemed to descend from the sky. As we entered the punchbowl bay, the vista opened up to a snow-capped peak peeking through the mist above a wide, fresh green meadow of sedge grass. Our Zodiac slowly approached the meadow for some bear and bird spotting. Just when we thought the moment could not get any better, our Zodiac driver turned off the engine. As we floated, listening to the wild sounds of the Tongass National Forest, it became clear — the gift of the day was the present moment.

Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
Victoria is one of Canada’s gem cities, known for its vibrant gardens and friendly people. Today was no exception, as we experienced the pure beauty of this wonderful city. We enjoyed historic walks, garden tours, a cycling adventure, and finished off the night with a cocktail party at the fabulous Art Gallery of Greater Victoria. It was a full day of splendid Canadian hospitality. Our adventure continues, as we head north towards Alaska.

National Geographic Quest
Friday Harbor and Cypress Island
National Geographic Quest returned to U.S. waters early on the final full day of our expedition. We landed in Friday Harbor, cleared customs, and began adventuring on shore. Some guests visited American Camp, while others strolled through town and visited the Whale Museum. After lunch, the ship repositioned to Cypress Island, where we hiked around and enjoyed glorious weather. After some sentimental goodbyes from our Captain and expedition leader, we witnessed the world premiere of our slideshow, put together by Nathan.
