Today, National Geographic Quest arrived at the calm waters of Playa Blanca located at the entrance of the Osa Peninsula. We started the day sending our guests ashore in our Zodiacs.
The panning for gold and the sugar cane mill were the first activities of the day. Guests were delighted to exchange their culture with the Costa Rican families they got to meet, and they also participated in some activities. There was also a visit to learn about the processing of hearts of palm which educated us on how this unique product is valuable in the local and international food industry.
All the activities ended at the beach station, and we enjoyed a barbeque lunch by the beach. This was followed up by Costa Rican traditional dances, in which local kids from nearby towns came and performed.
After lunch we hopped on the buses and visited other families in the afternoon as the wonderful local immersion came to an end.
