Our third day exploring the Marañon River began with a pre-breakfast skiff exploration through Marayali Creek. A great morning for birding. The diversity of the area amazed our guests who enjoyed taking pictures or just observing the local wildlife through binoculars.

In the morning, we visited the friendly community of San Francisco. The locals took us around the village so we could learn more about the “ribereños,” people who live off the forest and the river. This community is well-organized and women are empowered. They participate in the economy of their homes by making beautiful basket and plates from the fiber of the Chambira palm.

In the afternoon, our activities were concentrated on Clavero Lake, which we explored on skiffs. More birds and primates were sighted. On our way back to Delfin II, the sun bid us farewell with a gorgeous sunset.
