Our morning activity was concentrated in San Jorge Community. Right after breakfast, we loaded the skiffs and navigated to get there. We were welcome by the village people and a representative of a nonprofit organization called Minga Peru.
We were guided around the village, learning how the local lived and subsists in the Upper Amazon. We all got together in a small ranch and learn from the Minga Peru’s representative, Emilia. She explained to us how the women have been empowered to become leaders in the communities. She also explained about the different projects that are been promoted in the communities for sustainable development. Projects like fish farms, reforestation and sustainable farming.
In the afternoon, we cruise to the other tributary that merges with the Maranon River and gives birth to the mighty Amazon River. This river is the Ucayali River. There are several rivers that also flows their black waters to this River. By midafternoon we had arrived to Clavero lake. We all loaded the skiff and went to explore the area.
We were all rewarded from Mother Nature when we saw the smallest primate in the world, the pygmy marmoset.
