On our first full day in the Galapagos Islands on board National Geographic Islander II, we visited two different sites. Early in the morning we stopped by South Plaza, located on the eastern side of the bigger island of Santa Cruz. With a pre-breakfast walk, we went for a trek among pillow lava, opuntia cacti, and land iguanas. We finished our morning with a round of kayaking.
For the second part of the day, we navigated to Santa Fé Island. Considered one of the oldest islands, it also has a wonderful landscape inside a beautiful bay. Here, we ventured into the water for snorkeling, and we deployed the glass bottom Zodiac.
We finished our day with a pleasant walk among tall cacti, a big colony of sea lions, and with the endemic Santa Fe land iguana.
