Our expedition started very early in the morning, with the visit to South Plaza Island. This small island contains an amazing variety of life, including the unique Galapagos land iguanas. These wonderful reptiles were resting beside our trail, trying to heat up their body. South Plaza Island offers more fascinating species to observe, such as the remarkable Swallow-tailed gull. This unique gull is the only one that feeds at night, either while standing on rocks or while feeding its chicks. Walking along the cliff of this surprisingly windy island provided us a great opportunity to observe red-billed tropicbirds and brown pelicans, making it an ideal moment for capturing wonderful pictures.
After this incredible visit, our guests kayaked near the coast of South Plaza Island, discovering a huge colony of Galapagos sea lions playing around the kayaks.
The afternoon was equally amazing, starting with snorkeling inside a sheltered bay. It cannot be any better than snorkeling with playful sea lions. Afterwards, we went for a hike, and the challenge was finding the extraordinary Santa Fe land iguana, which is bigger and much more yellow than the species we found this morning. At the end of this afternoon, we relaxed at the beach surrounded by a huge colony of Galapagos sea lions.
