At sunrise we were anchored at the entrance to the lagoon of Takaroa Atoll. The pristine waters and the colors of the reef were an invitation to explore the underwater world. We set our snorkeling platform at the edge of the reef, where our guests could enjoy the ocean and its inhabitants.
The amount of life in every square inch is immense if you take your time to observe and look for the different species and behaviors. Our undersea specialist Chris Cook gave us an excellent example of this at Recap when he showed us all the species he found in a space of 6 square feet. Damsel fish, banded shrimp, royal angel fish, hawkfish, different species of coral, including a mushroom coral. All right there without the need to swim around looking for them.
After lunch, we started sailing to our next destination, the unique island of Makatea. We want to start the next day by going ashore.
During our traverse to our last destination in the Tuamotu Archipelago, a glorious double rainbow appeared as a sign for the good things to come. Tomorrow, Makatea.
