Superb clear skies enticed many to wake before dawn to enjoy the sunrise as we approached Tamatea/Dusky Sound from the open sea. A thin layer of fog clung to the fjords like cobwebs, but this soon burned off under strong sunshine. We explored many islands and Anchor Island by Zodiac, with numerous sightings of the endemic Fiordland crested penguin.
