What a day! It’s hard to describe the beauty and exuberance of the Amazon jungle.  The whole day has been full of wonderful encounters with different birds, monkeys, iguanas, sloths, and caimans. On our first skiff excursion in the morning, we explored the Ucayali riverside. Here we spotted several species of parrots and macaws, including the colorful blue and yellow macaw.

After briefly returning to Delfin II for a delicious breakfast, we immediately headed back out to our skiffs, this time to explore Belluda Caño searching for more wildlife. A green iguana welcomed us as we entered this narrow but gorgeous area. The morning light was spectacular and gave us the chance to get great pictures of some of the creatures that inhabit this part of the Ucayali.

Back onboard, we had a presentation about forest photography before lunch. In the afternoon, the talented Peruvian staff gave a presentation about the local cultures of the region, and also shared a short workshop on how to make origami with towels. To end our day, we took our skiffs out once again in the late afternoon to explore el Dorado region. After a quick stop on the riverside of a small local community, we spotted a huge group of common squirrel monkeys, and a few minutes after, we saw a couple of monk saki monkeys and tamarin monkeys. AS the day descended into night, we enjoyed more excellent sightings, including sloths, various birds and finally a few caimans. Every time we go out to explore, we don’t know exactly what to expect, but today mother nature was particularly very generous with us.
