National Geographic Resolution navigated through the famed Lamaire Channel before breakfast this morning. As we sipped our coffee and hot chocolates, we found quiet moments to reflect on the experiences we’ve had in the last few days: Penguins! Killer Whales! Feeding humpbacks for hours on end!
We’ve settled into a daily routine since our arrival on the peninsula: morning breakfast, followed by an exploration off the ship, then lunch, and another exploration before happy hour, recap, and dinner. Today was no exception as we boarded the Zodiacs to explore the area surrounding Verdansky Research Base and the adjacent Wordie House.
The soggy afternoon brought us to Petermann Island to stretch our legs onshore and visit a very active penguin colony. The maturing gentoo chicks were as entertaining as they were charismatic.
