We arrived in Zadar early in the morning and our ship docked in the harbor. Our guides met us and led a walking tour through the old town. We explored the Roman Forum, where ancient stone ruins, columns, and walls still stood strong. Our guide shared stories about the people who once lived there. Next, we visited the Church of Saint Donatus, a distinctive round structure unlike other churches we have seen. Inside, it was quiet and filled with a sense of history.
In the afternoon, we walked along the waterfront to the Sea Organ. Waves pushed air through hidden pipes beneath the stone steps, creating haunting, melodic tones. We sat and listened to the natural music for a while. As evening approached, we returned to the ship. We sailed away with the sun setting over the Adriatic, ending a day rich with history, architecture, and atmosphere.
