This vast green jungle is home to a number of bird species; some of them are seen every day but others not so often, such as the jabiru and wood storks. Today we spotted them as the birds were starting their morning activities — which includes courtship and foraging. Our exploration of the forest was full of interesting surprises, among the majesty of the giant trees and palms tangled with lianas and bromeliads. All these elements are home to a great diversity of insects, frogs, mammals, and birds.

In the afternoon we explored Paranapura Beach, by a combination of skiff rides and beach walks. As we went deeper into the beach grasses we observed the nesting grounds of local water birds, such as black skimmers and large-billed terns.
