The day commenced with a Zodiac journey to a special geological landmark colloquially called ‘Thor’s Hammer’. We continued around the coast, jutted into a small cave, and then onto a flooded mangrove-lined creek. However, an estuarine crocodile sighting eluded us.

After lunch we went back out to search the banks of Porosus Creek. This time we were successful locating estuarine crocodiles, mudskippers, and flame fiddler crabs. We were also able to spot several species of birds including Brahminy kites and kingfishers. As the tide dropped and the afternoon wore on, the orange sandstone backdrop was bathed in golden light. It was an exquisite journey through the best the Kimberley has to offer.
