Vega Island is the main landmass in an archipelago of islands, islets, and skerries that make up some of the most beautiful coastline in Norway. Vega is home to a rich cultural tradition of harvesting down from the local eider ducks. This incredible product is produced harmoniously with the birds and is an ancient practice that still thrives today.
First, we visited the hiking trails of the island to acquaint ourselves with the landscape. Then we made our way to the UNESCO museum to learn more about the process of harvesting eider down.
In the afternoon, we visited a local scenic fjord in StorbØrja. Guests chose between cruising the inland waters or taking to the land for a hike up the scenic river valleys. In the evening, we enjoyed a fantastic Filipino dinner. Afterwards, our amazing crew showed off some hidden talents during the crew show.
