This morning National Geographic Sea Bird anchored in Saint James Bay, on the west side of Lynn Canal. We had the opportunity to explore by kayak or expedition landing craft. We observed bald eagles, harbor seals and several species of gulls and ducks.
In the afternoon we went ashore for different lengths of hikes in Chilkat State Park on the Chilkat Peninsula. Two of the hikes went all the way to Haines where National Geographic Sea Bird met the walkers.
We took an evening cruise back down Lynn Canal to see the historical Eldred Rock Lighthouse, encountering a pod of killer whales to top off the day.
