Overnight, we finished navigating through the Scotia Sea and arrived at the South Orkney Islands in the early morning. We swung around and approached the southern side of the island group to make a landing in Stygian Cove on Signy Island. We were greeted with Antarctic fur seals, gentoo penguins, and chinstrap penguins and enjoyed the island on hikes of various lengths.

In the afternoon, we relocated west to Sandefjord, a small strait between Monroe and Coronation Island. We launched Zodiacs to cruise the massive chinstrap colonies on both islands. Along the way, we had some incredible encounters with leopard seals and were treated to wonderful vistas of wildlife and ice in every corner.

The day was capped off with an evening showing of the new National Geographic documentary about the namesake of our ship, the Endurance.
