At the far reaches of the South American continent, Patagonia dazzles with a trove of natural treasures. Aboard our 10-day voyage, Patagonia: Chilean Fjords and Argentina's Staten Island, we sail along untrammeled coastlines and call on wild and windswept isles where roads are scarce and nature reigns.

These stunning images, captured by our staff photographer David Vargas, will transport you to one of the most lauded nature destinations on the planet, and offer a window into the region’s dramatic fjords, imposing glaciers, and remote wildlife reserves.

Sailing the Scenic Beagle Channel

This voyage sails through the Beagle Channel, the legendary strait named for the ship aboard which Charles Darwin explored the area. Here, the National Geographic Resolution is immersed in the channel's picturesque scenery. (Note: Beginning in 2027, this voyage will sail aboard National Geographic Orion and National Geographic Explorer).

Exploring Up Close in Remote Corners

Guests in a Zodiac photograph a waterfall in Beagle Channel, Patagonia.

At the extreme tip of South America, the Beagle Channel threads through the Tierra del Fuego archipelago, a boundless and wild region of forests, mountains, and rivers. Exploring via Zodiac gives guests the chance to venture into hard-to-reach corners and get up close to the breathtaking natural beauty.

Hiking to the Bernal Glacier

Two hikers enjoy the scenic walk along a rocky beach that leads to the terminus (or snout) of Bernal Glacier. The still, turquoise waters create incredible reflections that amplify the grandeur of the glacier front.

Kayaking in Seno Agostini

Two guests kayak in front the bow of the National Geographic Resolution in Agostini Fjord, Chile.

Kayaking is another immersive way to experience the wild splendor of Patagonia. Guests paddle in front of the ship as they explore Seno Agostini, a spectacular fjord lined with southern beech forests and impressive glaciers.

Cruising Around Puerto Profundo

Three Zodiacs cruise through the waters of Puerto Profundo, Chile.

In Puerto Profundo, Zodiac cruise around a maze of islands and channels teeming with lush vegetation, like blooming fuchsia and copihue, as well as vibrant birdlife. Keep an eye out and you might spot several species of dolphins.

Relaxing Back On Board Ship

Several of our purpose-built expedition ships host this voyage, and whichever you choose, you'll find life aboard incredibly rewarding. In between active adventures ashore, relax in the lounge with a cocktail of your choosing or stop by the Bridge to chat with your captain and crew about the art of navigation.

A Rare Chance to Explore Isla de los Estados

A man and a woman hike through the tall, yellow pampas of Isla de los Estados, Tierra del Fuego.

On Argentina’s remote Isla de los Estados or Staten Island, hike through untouched landscapes witnessed by seldom few. Lindblad Expeditions helped pave the way for sustainable eco-tourism on this special island at the end of the world and today, we are still one of the few ships allowed to visit.

A Front-Row Seat to Wild, Windswept Beauty

Shaped by wind and weather, the gnarled and twisted southern beech trees on the shores of Staten Island define this rugged, unkempt landscape.
