Oren Frey

Oren Frey grew up in New England, where his early experiences outdoors sparked an enduring interest in the natural world and a career focused on exploration, education and stewardship. Following a formative study abroad experience in Mongolia, he developed a long-term commitment to immersive travel and field-based learning, guiding and working as an outdoor leader in regions ranging from the San Juan Islands to Tanzania.

Oren’s early work as an environmental educator on Catalina Island deepened his focus on marine ecosystems and inspired him to pursue a master’s degree in international environmental policy, with an emphasis on ocean issues. He later worked with the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary and served as a co-founder of a community-supported fishery.

In addition to his expedition work, Oren spent five years managing a nonprofit program dedicated to expanding access to outdoor adventure and inclusive field experiences.

A lifelong traveler, cyclist and hiker, Oren has independently navigated more than 80 countries, building a strong foundation in cultural awareness and adaptability in remote environments. In his role as a Naturalist and Expedition Leader, he brings a global perspective to guiding and supports meaningful engagement with the landscapes, wildlife and communities encountered along the way.
