Stefan Thorgeirsson
Stefan Thorgeirsson was born in Reykjavík to a family from Iceland’s remote Westfjords and grew up balancing city life with extended time in the countryside. Winters were spent in Reykjavík, while summers were devoted to hiking, camping and fishing across Iceland— experiences that fostered a lasting connection to the outdoors.
During high school, Stefan lived in Japan for a year, where he developed fluency in the Japanese language and a deep interest in cultural exchange. After graduating, he spent a year volunteering at a wildlife reserve in Costa Rica, gaining firsthand experience with tropical biodiversity while further developing his Spanish and engaging closely with local communities.
Stefan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Iceland, as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Acting from the Iceland University of the Arts. Following his studies, he returned to Japan and worked professionally as an actor for two years before relocating back to Iceland.
Prior to joining National Geographic-Lindblad Expeditions, Stefan worked as a tour guide throughout Iceland, traveling extensively around the island both on land and at sea. His interests continue to evolve, with a current focus on Arctic birdlife, which he enjoys interpreting for guests through observation and shared discovery.
