Michaela Skovranova

Australia-based photographer Michaela Skovranova specializes in nature and underwater photography. Her work has focused on capturing environmental stories in extreme environments—from photographing the Great Barrier Reef and capturing the remote wilderness and diverse wildlife of the Kimberley to documenting the annual humpback whale migration in Tonga and exploring the underwater worlds of Antarctica.

Erin Pettit

For nearly three decades, Erin Pettit has been studying ice flow within Earth’s giant ice caps, as well as in mountain glaciers around the world. As a professor of geophysics and glaciology at Oregon State University, Erin has embarked on more than a dozen research expeditions to Antarctica, where she leads teams working to unravel the mysteries surrounding ice shelf collapse, climate change and rising sea levels. Her recent work on the Thwaites Glacier—also known as the “Doomsday Glacier”—was highlighted in Scientific American and will be featured in an upcoming film on the subject.

Chris Rainier

Chris Rainier is a documentary photographer whose life's mission is to put on film both the remaining natural wilderness and Indigenous cultures around the globe, and to use images to create social change. He is a Fellow at the Royal Geographic Society in the UK and won the prestigious Lowell Thomas award given by The Explorers Club. He has served as a contributing editor for National Geographic Traveler magazine, a contributing photographer for National Geographic Adventure magazine, and a correspondent on photography for NPR.

Known as the "Indiana Jones of the Deep," Bound has conducted wreck surveys and excavations all over the world in a career that spanned 40 years, and was Director of Exploration for the search mission that located the wreck of Ernest Shackleton's ship Endurance.

Dr. Ted Scambos

Dr. Ted Scambos is a Senior Research Scientist at the National Snow and Ice Data Center at the University of Colorado in Boulder. He has specialized in using satellite data of the polar ice caps to map these regions in new ways, and in studying the effects of climate change in Antarctica.

Dr. Robert Bindschadler

Dr. Bindschadler’s career spanned more than 30 years at NASA where he retired in 2010 as the Chief Scientist of NASA’s Hydrospheric and Biospheric Sciences Laboratory and a Senior Fellow of the Goddard Space Flight Center. He is a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union, a past President of the International Glaciological Society, and is currently both a NASA Emeritus Scientist and a Senior Research Scientist at Morgan State University. He maintains an active interest in glaciers and ice sheets and has led 16 Antarctic field expeditions to study dynamics of the West Antarctic ice sheet.

Tara Sweeney
