Alejandra Ibarrola
Alejandra Ibarrola was born and raised in Mexico City and has been drawn to the ocean from an early age. After earning a degree in Tourism, she began working in the Caribbean, where she trained as a scuba diver and soon transitioned into a professional career in diving.
Her work as a scuba instructor took her across five continents, building experience in diverse marine environments and cultural settings while deepening her understanding of ocean ecosystems and conservation.
In 2016, Alejandra moved to Baja California, expanding her focus from underwater exploration to the landscapes and wildlife of the region’s islands, deserts and mountain environments. Based there, she has developed extensive experience guiding and interpreting the natural and cultural richness of this remote part of Mexico.
As a Naturalist, Alejandra emphasizes observation, curiosity and respect as the foundation for meaningful wildlife encounters. She views expedition travel as an opportunity to foster cultural connection and environmental awareness through education and storytelling.
Alejandra brings a collaborative approach to her work, valuing empathy, attentive listening and shared responsibility within expedition teams. Outside of guiding, she continues to spend time hiking, kayaking, birdwatching and freediving, maintaining a close connection to the environments she helps guests explore.
