Caroline Sanchez
Caroline Sanchez is a Naturalist with a background in geosciences and a particular focus on landscape studies and geomorphology. Raised in France, she developed an early interest in rocks and geological processes, which led her to pursue academic training in Earth science.
During her undergraduate years, Caroline traveled extensively in Africa and South America, with a strong focus on Chile, where she explored diverse landscapes and remote regions including Tierra del Fuego and the Andean Altiplano. These experiences shaped her long-term interest in the Andes and the geological forces that form extreme environments.
Caroline later completed a joint Ph.D. between Chile and France, focusing on the geological history of the Atacama Desert and the relationship between hyper-aridity and the formation of copper ore deposits. She continued with postdoctoral research on landscape evolution along the eastern Andes in the Northern Amazonian Basin.
Caroline developed a strong interest in birdwatching during her travels and has supported bird-protection initiatives in various regions. She began working as a Naturalist in both polar and tropical environments, sharing geological context and field-based observations with guests.
More recently, Caroline has co-authored several French-language books introducing geology to broader audiences, combining scientific expertise with accessible interpretation.
