Karina Ramon

Karina Ramon, a native of Santa Cruz Island in the Galapagos, has always been deeply inspired by the natural world and driven by a passion for conservation. From an early age, she actively engaged with local environmental organizations, working to protect the unique ecosystems and wildlife of her homeland. Karina studied Biology, where her academic journey fueled her desire to make a meaningful impact on the planet. This path led her to the Charles Darwin Research Station, where she had the opportunity to work alongside experts in the field. It was there that Karina embarked on a pivotal research project, “Plastic Ingestion in Giant Tortoises: An Example of a Novel Anthropogenic Impact on Galapagos Wildlife.” Her research, which involved extensive fieldwork and data analysis, further deepened her commitment to conservation.

Determined to share her knowledge and passion for the environment, Karina also became a naturalist guide in the Galapagos. Her unique role as both a biologist and a guide allow her to offer a distinct perspective on conservation efforts, while inspiring others to appreciate the incredible biodiversity of the Galapagos Islands. Karina continues to dedicate herself to environmental preservation, working to ensure that future generations can experience the same wonders of nature that shaped her own journey.
