Sergio Pitamitz
Award-winning wildlife and conservation photographer Sergio Pitamitz is a National Geographic Image Collection contributor and Fellow of iLCP, the International League of Conservation Photographers. On assignments, he has traveled to more than 100 countries on all 7 continents, with multiple trips to Antarctica and the Arctic. He is a contributor for National Geographic Italy, and his images and stories have appeared in numerous other publications. These include BBC Wildlife, Terre Sauvage, Paris Match, The New York Times and Figaro Magazine, as well as several National Geographic online and in-print publications. His first book, Wild Africa—with a conservation foreword by acclaimed National Geographic photojournalist Steve Winter—was released in 2016 at the International Nature Photography Festival of Montier-en-Der in France.
He has received awards in multiple international photo contests, such as Nature’s Best, National Wildlife and Audubon. In 2016, he won the prestigious Best of Photojournalism award in the Environmental category from the National Press Photography Association.
Sergio shares his passion and expertise for photojournalism by giving lectures at photography events and on National Geographic Expeditions. He has French and Italian dual citizenship and enjoys spending as much time as possible in his beloved Menton in the French Riviera. He speaks multiple languages, including French, Italian, English and Spanish.
