Neighboring the U’Mista Cultural Center are the previous grounds of St. Michael’s Residential School. In February 2015, over 700 people, including survivors, family members, and supporters, all showed up to witness the school’s demolition. Portrait of a Nazca booby. Nazca boobies have finished raising their young by this time of the year. As we hiked along their colony, we observed some individuals taking care of themselves by carefully spreading oil over their feathers. As seabirds, Nazca boobies feed on the fish they catch by plunging into the inner waters of the Galapagos Marine Reserve. —Salvador Cazar, Naturalist
